Faster Sprint Times on Structure Group’s Revolutionary Temporary Track
The fastest sprinter in the world, Usain Bolt, just got faster when he ran a 150m race through the heart of Manchester, in May this year in a new record time, on The Structure Group’s Elevated Deck system.

The Great North City Games 2009 was the first ever athletics event to be
held in a city centre but The Structure Group rose to the challenge
providing temporary demountable facilities for a 215m running track, shot
putt area and long jump.
The events held on heavy deck included a 60 metre Sprint, 110 metre Hurdles, 150m Sprint, long Jump and Shot putt. A British best time was achieved by Marlon Devonish in the 150m men’s sprint in a time of 14.88 seconds. Usain bolts stunning record breaking performance in Manchester was coupled with Britain’s Christine Ohuruogu achieving a British best time at the same distance, which is testament to the fact that use of heavy deck makes for an excellent supporting floor for world class athletes to perform on. It is the only system accepted by the IAAF for Athletics events
Christine Ohuruogu was over the moon with her performance and commented: “I broke the British record over 150m in Manchester in May and really enjoyed the concept.”
The elevated level deck system requires no scaffolding and is perfect for
all types of terrain and is currently being used in a range of industry
sectors. The uses for this system are endless and developments of
these applications have recently included the creation of an eye catching
beach in central Nottingham, which captured the imagination of all those who
saw it live and on TV.
The Structure Group’s level deck system requires just a fraction of the man hours of conventional scaffolding systems, providing a safe and level system to work on.
